Elodia Cavazos

Founding attorney, McAllen

Plans for houses, land and the people who will inherit them.

I opened the McAllen office to do one thing well: sit with a family and write down what they would say if everyone were in the room. Much of my work is with parents who own a house and some land, and with children who want to be sure they will not fight over it.

I am happiest when a client reads the finished document aloud and says, “That is what I meant.”

How Elodia prepares for a first meeting

Before you arrive, she reads whatever you send: a deed, a copy of an old will, a list of accounts. At the meeting she draws the family on a sheet of paper, with names and ages, and asks who would be the first person to call.

She will not hand you a document she cannot explain in two sentences. If something needs a second meeting, she will say so and tell you why.
